On Tuesday afternoon, a heartbreaking tragedy happened at the Navajo Nation, as a small medical transport plane crashed near Chinle airport, located around 200 miles (321 kilometres) northeast of Flagstaff, all four individuals on board have died and police say that plane was used for medical service.

However, the plane was en route to pick up a patient from a nearby hospital but unfortunately, it went down around 12:40 p.m. local time, after the crash, the plane caught fire and identities of four people aboard have not yet been released, pending official notifications by the aircraft company.

According to authorities, all four people aboard—none of whom were local residents—were confirmed deceased at the scene.

The investigation is now beginning by the authorities and finding the main reason for the crash. At that time currently all access to the airports is closed  for investigative purposes. 

Moreover, The aircraft ( a small dual propeller Beechcraft 300 plane), operated for only medical transport service, was reportedly on a mission to assist a patient in need when required. 

At this time, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched a full investigation to determine the main reason for the crash. Chinle Airport has been temporarily closed to allow investigators (unrestricted access to the scene).

In a statement the Navajo Nation and emergency response teams expressed their sorrow, saying it a tragic loss not only for the families of the victims but also the community members of first responders and air medical professionals.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those lost in this tragic accident. Their service to others will not be forgotten,” one official said.
