Islamabad/New Delhi, July 19, 2025 — Pakistan has prolonged its airspace restrictions for Indian flight till August 24, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said. The restriction  applies to all services operated or leased by Indian Airlines for civil and military cargo.

A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) was issued on July 18 (Friday) which will come into effect at 3:50 pm and will remain in force until 5:19 am on August 24 (Sunday).

Impact on Regional Air Travel

Because of this banned airspace, flights which go on international routes will face a lot of problems. Most flights traveling from India to Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia will be affected the most. Airlines will now have to travel on longer routes, due to which there will be an increase in flight time and more operational costs.

Indian Airlines like Air India, Indigo and Vistara had already planned their flight plans to avoid Pakistani airspace due to which international passengers had to face a lot of delays and rescheduling. Aviation analysts have issued a warning that if such restrictions continue, fuel efficiency and ticket prices will suffer.

ICAO urged restraint and dialogue so that there should not be long-term aerospace restrictions as this is a violation of open and safe international air transit.

What are action on Indian flight

Now, that it has been extended till 24 August, diplomatic watchers believe that a solution to this will come out when there will be some third-party mediation or high-level talks. Meanwhile, airlines and passengers are facing problems due to this ongoing distribution.
