Tejas Fighter Jet Set to Replace MiG-21 as Indian Air Force Modernizes Fleet

The Indian Air Force will now replace the MiG-21 with the Tejas fighter jet.

Mig 21 is retiring after 62 years because the Indian Air Force is preparing to equip itself with the indigenous fighter aircraft, Tejas MK1A.

Reason

MIG-21 is being retired and how powerful is the Tejas MK1 that will replace it? India is continuously strengthening its Air Force. India is rapidly moving towards equipping it with the power of indigenous fighter planes. The fighter jet with which this mission is planned to be accomplished is the fighter Tejas MK 1A. This is an indigenous fighter plane which is now going to be ready on the front against the enemy. And it is going to replace those fighter planes which were the strength of the Indian Air Force for 62 years. This fighter jet, Mig 21 Mig 21, is retiring on 19 September. Now Tejas MK1A fighter jet is going to replace it. M-21 was inducted into the Indian Air Force in 1963. 

Since then, this fighter plane has demonstrated India’s strength in three wars. It has witnessed the Indo-Pakistani War in 1965, the 1971 War and the Kargil War in 1999. But in the last few years, this plane has repeatedly been a victim of accidents. As a result, this began calling it a flying coffin.

According to data from the Ministry of Defense, more than 400 MiG 21 planes have crashed. More than 200 pilots have lost their lives in this. This is why India purchased 900 MiG-21 fighter jets, of which only 21 remain in service today. In such a situation, if the MiG-21 retires, then the Indian Air Force is ready to increase its air power. Tejas MK1A fighter plane. Feature of Tejas Fighter

The fighter jet Tejas has many important features due to which there is a preparation to replace the MiG-21 with it. It is capable of flying at a speed of Mach 1.6. It can fly up to a height of 52,000 feet. Once it takes off, it can fly up to a distance of 3000 km. Due to being small and very light in weight, Tejas have not been classified as a fighter jet by any radar system in the world. That is why it does not come under the radar.

Tejas has a total of nine hard points. It has a 23 mm twin barrel cannon. It can fire air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles. and also equipped with Brahmos missiles. Along with this, also install laser-guided bombs, glide bombs, and cluster weapons on the aircraft. Due to this power, many countries in the world want to include Tejas in their air force.
