A technical issue with UK air traffic control on July 30th caused widespread delays and cancellations at major airports like Heathrow and Gadwick. Many flights were diverted or delayed, leaving passengers stranded or facing disruptions, including a flight to London diverted to Geneva.
A temporary IT outage, thousands of people have been affected.
At that time, passengers staring hopefully up at departure boards. And there wasn’t much movement either on the runways.

Not only Heathrow but many UK airports like Birmingham, Edinburgh, Gatwick,. The air traffic control provider, NAT, said at 4:15 p.m. that it was down to a technical issue at their swanwick control center affecting what’s known as the London control area.
The transport secretary has said people should check with individual airports before they travel.
Airlines and authorities are acknowledging the problem and calling for measures to prevent similar issues in the future.
