An Air India (TV-TVG) plane, Airbus A321 , catches fire. All passengers and crew members are safe. The Hong Kong to Delhi Air India flight caught fire and has now landed in Delhi.
This is the third incident in two days that this has taken place. Air India flight AI 315 operated from Hong Kong to Delhi earlier today. It landed safely in Delhi, but after that, the passengers disembarked. It was in the Vistara livery, which is part of Air India.

It experienced an auxiliary power unit fire shortly after it had landed and parked at the gate.
The incident occurred while passengers had begun disembarking. The APO was automatically shut. Air India says that there has been some damage to the aircraft, but everybody is safe. The aircraft has been grounded.
The director general of civil aviation has been notified.
What is the APO?
The APO is a small engine located in the rear of the engine rear of the aircraft. It is used, among other purposes, to generate alternates as it provides alternate electricity for certain functions. For example, air conditioning on an aircraft when it is on the ground before the engines are actually switched off. There are multiple functions of the APU, but that’s just one. But for some reason the APO itself, the auxiliary power unit, caught fire. There’s been some damage to this aircraft.
This is the third incident involving Air India in the last 2 days.
